ZUGA
Mobile App • UXUI Design • 4 Months
(Overview)
ZUGA is Mongolia’s first youth-focused discovery app — think Yelp, but more social and playful. Over four months, I led a full redesign to improve UX, build a design system, and give the app a vibrant, generation-first feel.
(Challenges)
The original app lacked a clear offer — users didn’t understand what the app was for at a glance.
The UI felt flat and outdated, with no visual or interactive engagement.
There was no design system, making scaling and consistency difficult.
The app didn’t feel like it belonged to the youth it was built for.
(Solution)
Designing with Clarity, Built for Connection
We started with a design sprint to clarify ZUGA’s core journey and user needs. From there, I led a full redesign of the mobile app.
The new experience focused on clarity and engagement — with a playful design system, improved flows, and custom 3D elements that matched the app’s social vibe.
Working with a young, energetic team made collaboration fast and fun — which let us move quickly and push for bold, expressive design.
(Solution)
Increased brand recognition and user acquisition after launch (based on client feedback).
Users shared the app more — creating organic buzz through screenshots and word-of-mouth.
The redesign helped ZUGA finally feel like the brand they envisioned, leading to ongoing collaborations.
